term consilience is receiving unprecedentedly many attentions now.
The dictionary definition, however, is not enough to make us understand the actually meaning and instances of it. Here’s a research by Edward O. Wilson, a biologist and the author of Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge (1998). According to the book, ‘Trust in consilience is the foundation of the natural sciences.’ It also gives examples of consilience that focuses on not only science but also non-science, such as Age of Enlightenment (the combination of scientific knowledge and human rights and societal progress). He argues that every learning can benefits through the consilience. The recent society also gives emphasis on consilience. Samsung wants to recruit who is good at many areas.
I personally agree on it. The recent society needs more complexed ideas than ever before, and consilience will help the contemporary people to have deeper ideas. I’m very interested in studying tourism, which is part of social science. I found that by focusing various part of tourism, it can be combined with many other studies.
